Research Excellence Workshop
Dos & Don’ts every research student and early-stage researcher must know
A practical, experience-driven workshop designed to help research students and early-stage researchers avoid some common pitfalls and complete research with clarity and confidence.
Why this workshop?
Every year, many students start research projects with enthusiasm but struggle due to unclear topics, weak research gaps, unrealistic plans, or loss of motivation. These challenges are common and preventable. This workshop addresses the real, often unspoken issues that derail research early on and provides practical guidance to help you define a clear direction, plan realistically, and stay motivated so you can progress confidently and complete your research successfully.
Common challenges we see:
- Identifying research gaps and formulating a research-worthy problem/issue and questions
- Devising a realistic research plan
- Losing the initial enthusiasm
- Building a positive relationship with research supervisor/s and other stakeholders
What Makes This Workshop Different
This is not a traditional “research methodology” session.
- This face-to-face interactive session aims to ensure that participants leave with a tentative research problem and a realistic plan
- Builds on real experiences of the facilitators as academics/researchers, supervisors and examiners
- Focuses on decisions, trade-offs, and mistakes
- Provides practical guidance
- Relevant for both full-time/part time students and working professionals
